Metal against Cancer

It's been awhile since I last told you all about my band Apparition and so some of you might wonder what has kept the band busy the last couple of months. Well, we did quite a few gigs, but are mainly focusing on writing new songs. You see, we are planning on recording a new mini CD later this year. Come to think of it, it is actually a very interesting year for us. We are definately going to do a record number of gigs this year AND we are writing some cool new material along the way.

Anyway, our last live performance was July 22nd. We played at a fundraiser to help the development of new madicine against cancer. A noble cause of course and some good publicity for the band. Apart from Apparition four other bands were playing that day at Dormibella in Leidschendam, which is close to The Hague. Unfortunately, mother nature decided it was time for two serious heat waves in The Netherlands (honestly that old crone never plans this sort of thing right). So first of all the organisation of Metal against Cancer sort of forgot that when hosting a metal event you actually need speakers and secondly the audience forgot to show up.

Still we played an excellent set of 45 minutes, which was generously applauded by all of those that did make it to Dormibella. And after our own performace had great fun watching the guys of Last Breath Denied doing there thing on stage.

The guys of Last Breath Denied

To laugh off the somewhat strange afternoon in Leidschendam we decided to have a 'braai', some drinks and some of the band attempted (and succeeded) at looking stupid :-)

Do I need to say more?

Shame, guys! That was a bit of a let down! I saw the gig advertised on your Apparition site, and wondered how it had gone. No audience and no speakers sounds like a bit of a challenge. Anyway, well done fo supporting a good cause, and well done for giving us a new post ...AT LAST!...;-)

A Braai!!! Yeah Surf Africans are slowly and inconspicuously infiltrating the world!
I think It's cool when nobody pitches coz then the few people that do have a totally awesome time and it is so much more memorable for them...instead of having a lot of people with a vague memory of events, you get a few people that the night will be with for a log time!

I hope you guys were able to raise enough for the charity. Glad to hear that you guys were able to play that night. Hopefully the weather will be better next time.
