My first car

Having passed my drivers license at the end of last year, I've been salivating over the classifieds in search of the four-wheeled beauty that was destined to steal my heart and get me on the road again.

Last Saturday, after having found a dealer that had a number of good looking prospects (my heart was already set on a Renault Megane) we set off with Baz's dad to go and have a look. After much walking around vehicles and checking out all the bits and pieces we finally decided on a very pretty little Megane with a 2.0 litre engine.

Then it was time for the test drive :)

What a feisty little minx she is! I was so caught up in the smooth driving pleasure that I got myself a little lost but that just gave me more time to test her abilities and how pleased I was to do that.

After having finally found my way back to the dealer, I was sold. So without further ado, I give you Lolita :)

Landal Greenparcs (2)

Of course I still had to finish my impression on our holiday at Landal Greenparcs' Coldenhoven near Eerbeek. Is is only the 3rd of January and already it feels like it was ages ago that we had some lovely days of peace and quiet. Anyway...

The two days after our visit to Het Loo we decided to take a brisk walk through the Veluwe. This well-known wooded area in the centre of The Netherlands is simply marvelous anytime of the year. Walking through these woods is like disappearing from the world completely. Even this small country with its many inhabitants apparently still knows its safehavens away from urban life. Not once did we hear the sound of a car or see other people as we walked along taking in all the sights, sounds and smells the Veluwe has to offer. And after an hour's walk we treated ourselves to some hot chocolat or a nice warming whisky (of which we would have many more on new year's eve, right Renate?).Silly Baz and JoJo also thought to give Deventer a visit on the second day of Christmas, but of course there was nothing going on there at the time. It was very, VERY cold though. Wacky Burbanites, always thinking there's something to do when they go somewhere (which would of course be quite natural). Oh well, one piccie then, just to show we were really there...
